About My Writing

This book (a Life of Snakes and Ladders)is a collection of thoughts, feelings, comments, letters, dreams and stories that I started writing down when I was about 30 (28 years ago). I don't pretend that there are any profound statements, but simple thoughts (many under the influence of a few jars) that came to me at certain times of my life.

I wrote this collection, really, just to get rid of all the bits of newspaper, paper and beer mats I had laying around with bits of writing on; to put them all together in one piece.

Each piece or rather bit, starts with the date I wrote it (because I always dated these things) and places sometimes, both of which (when I read them again) cast me back, quite emotionally, to the situation I was in at the time.

About My Background

After being born, without being asked, in Braintree, Essex a long time ago (58 years naerly), I was reluctantly educated in SE London then later, more happily, in Kent.

I have spent most of my life with my nose to the grindstone trying to make ends meet and would describe myself as an 'oily rag'.

I have been married 3 times and have 3 beautiful children and 2 delightful grandchildren.

My mercenary work style has taken me to foreign lands near and far, and I have more recently settled down in Denmark with my latest wife and our dog 'Whoopsie'.
